Another month, another opportunity to share my favorite products, practices, and items with you all. I look forward to writing this post every month because it gives me an opportunity to look back on all the new things I’ve been loving using.
This month, my interests are spanning lots of different areas – I’m sharing my favorite snacks, life inspiration, beauty products, recipes, practices, and much more. Keep reading to see what I can’t get enough of this month!
1. BOOK: The Perfect Mother
Why I love it: Me, the ultimate scaredy cat, feels an itch to read a suspenseful novel. I found this book on Amazon and thought it looked compelling – just look at the reviews! After finishing this book, I can see why it’s a favorite. The ending was really surprising.
2. PODCAST: The Daily – The New York Times
Why I love it: I get my daily dose of news and stellar journalism every morning on my commute in 25-30 minutes. Each episode is about a current topic and followed by an in-depth interview with a NYT reporter. The host is great and the coverage is phenom. I can’t start my morning without this podcast – I highly recommend it.
3. WELLNESS: Q&A a Day: 5-Year Journal
Why I love it: Daily journaling can be hard, especially for me. Remembering to do it every day, much less having the energy at the end of the day to write out a daily message can be tough. In comes: Q&A a Day: 5-Year Journal. I love this little guy. Every day for a year, you get a prompt. You repeat this for 5 years recycling the same prompts year after year. What I like most is how you can look back and see how your perspective or POV has changed, plus it takes less than a minute to complete. Win-win!
Why I love it: Raise your hand if you ever fallen victim to under eye puffiness? *me raising my hand* Whether it’s from lack of sleep, allergies, or fluid retention, it’s no fun when your eyes start puffing up. I hadn’t used these patches before, but purchased them during Ulta’s Black Friday sale and I’m a total fan. It feels like a luxurious treat. I reserve them for special occasions or means of curing the Sunday scaries.
Pro Tip: Put your under eye patches in the freezer for an extra POW.
5. PRACTICE: Gretchen Rubin’s 19 for 2019
Why I love it: I’ve listened to Gretchen Rubin’s podcast, Happier, off and on for some time. She and her co-host sister gives solid advice and tips on how to live a happier life. Every year Gretchen and her sister put together a list of things they want to accomplish during that year; the number of things coincide with the year, so last year’s was 18 for 2018 and so on. The items on your list can be serious, others can be just for fun – you pick! I gotta say, this has been so much fun. Ticking off items, small or large, feels like an accomplishment.
If you’re a list kinda person, you may get a kick out of it too. Check out the linked podcast episode or check out my 19 for 2019 list below! The green check mark indicates I’ve completed that goal.
6. CLOTHES: Puma Carina Sneakers
Why I love it: I was on the hunt for comfortable walking sneakers for our upcoming trip to Ireland and the UK. Aside from a comfortable springy sole, these sneakers are versatile and stylish. I’m excited break these bad boys out for our trip across the pond.
7. FOOD: Salmon Tacos w/Cilantro-Lime Slaw via Willow Bird Baking
Why I love it: Think springtime, think salmon tacos. These tacos are a fan favorite here. The crunchy slaw, a soft, warm tortilla, tangy sauce, and a refreshing salmon bite – it’s the perfect combo. This quickie meal takes little time to make and *bonus* you can prep some stuff ahead of time.
8. INSPIRATION: @shutthekaleup
Why I love it: I love, love, love following @shutthekaleup. Janette’s realness about life, food, and wellness is game-changing. I look forward to her posts and stories because I know she’s always going to be genuine. I adore her and love her inspiring messages. She’s the ish.
Why I love it: I’m such a fan of these metal inlay coasters. I received them as a housewarming gift and I love ‘em. Another Target home good win!
10. SNACKS: Lara Bars
Why I love it: Lara Bars are my go-to snacks for any time of the day. Pairing it with a smoothie makes for a great breakfast or saving it for a snack later in the day. These bars have minimal ingredients, loads of flavors, and are super filling. I love ’em and look forward to snacking on them.
